How to feed stray dogs

Feeding stray dogs can improve the lives of dogs significantly. However, it's really important to take precautions while feeding dogs for the safety of yourself, others, and the dogs.

Feed in places away from humans

Avoid feeding in places near restaurants, playgrounds, public gatherings, and cars. The dogs may become stressed eating in front of many people or they may harass other people for food in the future. It’s best to feed the dogs in a spacious place away from other humans. It is also important to feed them in the same exact spot each time.

Space their food out

Feeding one dog will most likely lead to others showing up for a snack too. However dogs get territorial over food, especially when they are hungry. To prevent any potential dog fights it’s best to space the food in many different places.

Due to the language barrier, I had to have his owners translate. Mancho is a dog who came from the village of Sambo Creek, Honduras. He is roughly 60 years old, which is 10 in human years. According to his owner his favorite hobbies are stealing whole sheets of cookies, chasing seagulls, singing, and sun tanning. He also enjoys farting really loudly and then leaving the room once he can smell his own fart.
