Most dogs commit a few crimes in their life - chewing your favorite pillow, stealing your socks, harassing government employees carrying documents protected by the federal government (barking at the mailman)... to name a few. But these are some dogs that faced time for their crimes.
Bean the pug
Bean the pug committed the crime of running away from home. While she was on the run a police officer happened to notice her in a yard she did not belong to. Officer Michael LeSage tried to get her to hop into his car but her legs were way too short and he had to lift her. They posted the dog's mugshot on facebook and her owner came by a few hours later to pay her bail. According to the officers, Bean’s bail was paid in cookies.
Pep the Dog
Pep was a good natured dog according to all of his friends. But one summer day his owner, Governor Pinchot, was desperate to get rid of him. Desperate, the governor accused him of the murder of a cat. Pep was tried, found guilty, and sentenced to life in prison. Pep never murdered a cat. However, his real crime consisted of chewing up the Governor's favorite sofa. Pep was everyone’s favorite inmate at the SCI Graterford prison. He helped many inmates calm down and lived a happy life.
Sam the Pitbull
Sam was rescued from an abusive situation in the year 2020. Sam was adorable but she did not know how to use her manners and was very skittish. Sam was never arrested but she was sent to the Rochester FCI and paired with an inmate. The inmate trained her and she was their full time best friend for a few years. Not only did the inmate train Sam to be the best behaved, Sam helped the inmate rehabilitate and help their mental health.
